Before Unwired Orchestrator can work with external systems, you must configure a connection to that external system, known as an endpoint. Use the New Endpoint Wizard to create an endpoint connection. Invoke the wizard by right-clicking on a folder in the Endpoint Manager and navigating into the Add Endpoint submenu. The available choices depend on the folder you selected.
Other tasks that involve endpoint connections are available as menu items. Most of the administrative functions are the same as those used for the Business Process design but are performed using the Endpoint Manager and, when noted, the New Endpoint Wizard.
Add
See New Endpoint Wizard, which
can be invoked on any of the three categories. The type of endpoint connection
you add depends on the category you selected.
Copy and
Paste
Right-click on the endpoint configuration.
See Copying
and Pasting Endpoint Configurations.
Delete
Right-click on the endpoint configuration and select delete. You can
delete an endpoint from the Endpoint Manager even if it is being used
by a service so be sure to verify whether it is being used. You can remove
multiple endpoints at one time.
Edit
To modify an existing endpoint, right-click on it in the Endpoint Manager
and select Edit… This invokes the Endpoint Editor dialog which displays
a list of all the endpoint properties. As you click on each property,
the dialog presents a page in which you can modify the property value.
These pages are identical to what you see and use in the Endpoint Wizard.
See Database
Connection Configuration Properties.
Test
Used only for database connections. See Testing
Database Endpoints.
Rename
To rename an endpoint, right-click on it in the Endpoint Manager and
select Rename. This invokes a dialog which displays the endpoint current
name and prompts you for a new name. The same constraint on name uniqueness
is enforced here as in the Endpoint Wizard. When you rename an endpoint,
it is no longer visible to any ports in services that refer to that endpoint.
You must create a new port using the new name for any service that used
the endpoint.
The following are available from the menu when you select View.
Import
You can import a previously exported XML file. See Importing
into the Directory.
Export
You can save the endpoint configurations to use in other business processes.
You simply save them into an XML file. In the Endpoint Manager view, from
the drop-down menu, select Export. This places endpoint configurations
from the directory into an XML file. They can be stored and then imported
into another directory. See Exporting
from the Directory.
Be sure to consider the implications of your action on all interactions of the service or configuration. See Basics for information on using the basic tooling functionality.
