Endpoint Manager

Before Unwired Orchestrator can work with external systems, you must configure a way to connect to that external system. An endpoint provides a connection point between the business process and the external system. The Endpoint Manager displays defined endpoints and allows you to work with the four endpoint connection types: Database, Messaging, Engine Cluster, and Web Services.

Opening the Endpoint Manager

The Endpoint Manager is a view that can be opened in a perspective. To open Endpoint Manager,

  1. From the Unwired Orchestrator menu bar, select Window>Show View.

A list of available views is displayed.

  1. Select Other, expand Orchestrator, and select Endpoint Manager.

The view opens in the perspective.

Note: You may be prompted for your user id and password to log into Directory Services security.

Endpoint Manager Functionality

A folder for each endpoint type is displayed in the Endpoint Manager. Each folder may contain a number of endpoint objects. The label for each endpoint consists of the endpoint name followed by the type of connection in parentheses.

Typically, an endpoint is defined, configured to create an endpoint connection, and then bound for runtime.

Click to access the drop-down menu for the Endpoint Manager, which allows you to import and export endpoint configurations. Right-click on a category to add an endpoint or paste an endpoint you have previously copied to the clipboard. You can also use the Go Into and Back buttons as explained in Tool Bar Buttons.

From the Endpoint Manager you can do the following:

View Endpoint Properties

Click to select a defined endpoint in the Endpoint Manager, the properties for the endpoint are shown in the Property Sheet.

Add New Endpoints

Right-click a category, such as Databases, Messaging, Engine Cluster, or Web Services, in Endpoint Manager to use the Endpoint Wizard to add an endpoint configuration.

Edit Defined Endpoints

1. Right-click on an endpoint configuration in the Endpoint Manager.

2. Select Edit. The Properties for the name of endpoint dialog box opens displaying the properties associated with the selected  endpoint.

3. Click the property in the left pane of the Properties dialog. The editor for the selected property opens in the right panel.

4. Edit the properties as needed. Click Apply after editing each property; the Properties dialog remains open.

Tip: Endpoint configuration properties can be edited. You can click to select a value and can change the selection by clicking on a new value. The value changes to the newly selected value.

You may want to deselect an endpoint configuration property value without defining a new one. To deselect, versus change, the property value press CTRL and click on the selected value in the list. This deselects the property value.

5. Click OK to save all of the changes and close the dialog box.

Delete, Rename, Copy and Paste, Test

Warning: Before deleting a messaging transport definition from the Endpoint Manager, verify that the transport is not defined as an input transport for any runtime instance. If the transport is defined as an input transport, go to the runtime instance in the Server Explorer and de-select the transport from the defined input transports for the runtime instance. See Defining Input Transports for Runtime Instances.

Right-click an endpoint configuration in Endpoint Manager, to access the following features:

  • Delete an endpoint configuration.

  • Rename an endpoint configuration.

  • Copy and Paste an endpoint configuration.

  • Test a configuration for a database endpoint connection.
