Importing into the Directory

Use the import functionality in Endpoint Manager to import Unwired Orchestrator endpoint configurations. Importing allows you to use information from another directory containing services or a file shared by others, for example, by using email or access to a shared directory.

Before you can import endpoint configurations into the current directory, you must complete an export of endpoint configurations from another directory. You must know the name and location of the export XML file. See Exporting from the Directory.

To import into the directory:

  1. Click the arrow to access the Endpoint Manager drop-down menu.

  2. Select Import.

  3. Browse to select the folder and XML file name that contains the endpoint configurations you want to import. The name and location were defined when the export XML file was created.

  4. Click Open.

  5. The Import dialog displays showing a list of all of the endpoints being imported. For each endpoint displayed, you can review the description and choose a resolution if there is an import conflict.

Ignore

Ignore the import of the endpoint; do not import the endpoint.

Overwrite

Overwrite the existing endpoint with the imported endpoint.

Rename

Rename the imported endpoint and import it, leaving the existing endpoint in place. After setting the Resolution to Rename, the Name field for the endpoint in the Import dialog allows you to type the new name.

  1. Click OK. All endpoints not set to be ignored are added to the directory according to the resolution setting for each endpoint.

Warning: When an endpoint is imported, you have the opportunity to rename the endpoint. Renaming a File, JMS, or WebSphere MQ session does not update the transport endpoints to use the newly named session. Problems can occur from the renaming if the endpoint references are not updated; endpoint references may point to incorrect versions of other endpoints or to non-existent endpoints. Be sure to evaluate each endpoint with references to verify the references are correct.
