Installing Client Tools

To connect to RAP databases, you must install the appropriate tools on each client machine.

Adaptive Server Enterprise client tools are required for a client to connect to RAPCache. Sybase IQ client tools are required for a client to connect to the RAPStore server.

• Adaptive Server Client Tools
  The Adaptive Server Enterprise 15 PC-Client CD contains several Sybase products.
• Sybase IQ Network Client Tools
  Sybase IQ client tools are required for a client to connect to the RAPStore server.
• Managing Client Connections
  Clients and servers communicate through connections. For a client application to connect to a server application, the server application must be listening for the client connection request.
• UAF Agents
  UAF plug-ins running on each server handle communication between Operations Console and RAP components.
• Installing PowerDesigner
  Install PowerDesigner 15.1 for Windows from the Adaptive Server Enterprise 15.5 PC-Client CD.
