Managing Servers with Sybase Central

Sybase Central, a management console for Sybase products, lets you manage multiple servers from a single location, and perform complex administration tasks without using the Transact-SQL commands or system stored procedures.

• Starting Sybase Central
  Start Sybase Central from the command line.
• Changing the RAPCache RAP_USER password
  If you change the RAP_USER password in the RAPCache, encrypt the password, and update the appropriate values in the configuration files.
• Registering the RAPStore Database Server with Sybase Central
  To access the RAPStore server from Sybase Central, you must register the Sybase IQ plug-in.
• Setting the System Administrator Password
  RAPCache and RAPStore server include different administrator default logins. Change the default logins to protect your system.
• Encrypting RAP Passwords
  If you change the server administrator and RAPCache administrator passwords, you must update and encrypt the passwords in the agent plug-ins.
• Creating RAP Users
  You must create separate user and group accounts for RAPCache and RAPStore server for users to query the databases.
