As a unified development environment, Sybase WorkSpace provides the tools you need to create cutting-edge applications quickly and easily. It allows you to move to service-based development, which can include both data and business logic in one unit. This allows faster end-to-end application development for Sybase infrastructure products.
Should you need assistance, no matter where you are in the work, you can access help with your tasks from the Help menu by clicking the question mark icon, or, in some instances, using F1.
The work that you do in Sybase WorkSpace is made easier by a combination of the framework and functionality.
Sybase WorkSpace uses an Eclipse platform-based framework common across components.
Common interfaces mean a shorter learning curve. As you become familiar with the wizard or editor for one service and move to developing another service, you are familiar not only with the wizard and editor but also with the workflow.
The shared framework and tools allow you to develop applications faster, and to leverage tools and technology from many sources. Work with a variety of applications, including services, mobile, Java, composite, event-driven, or data-driven.
The seamless unified environment lets you move between the areas of Sybase WorkSpace such as from developing and testing a service to modeling, or from monitoring to debugging without major transitions. You do not have to start new applications or move to a different server.
Context menus and drag and drop enable reuse of items across components.
Cheat Sheets get you started in Sybase WorkSpace. Select Help|Cheat Sheet and select a cheat sheet to walk you through creating a service or other development tasks.
Tutorials and Samples are available from the Sybase WorkSpace Welcome page icon or by going to the bookshelf TOC and selecting WorkSpace collection|Tutorials.

Collaborative Development allows your entire team to more easily coordinate and share your work.
Functionality within the Sybase WorkSpace framework provides enhanced development workflow.
Sybase WorkSpace supports a typical service-oriented development of application (SODA) paradigm of discovering existing application resources and then creating services that encapsulate the functionality. You can deploy the services; reuse services; combine services within composite services; include services in business processes that transform the data or add monitoring and alerts, or publish the services.
Model-driven development provides you with an interface for modeling a business process. Errors or problems in the model are visible to you on the screen. You can also forward-engineer a model to a business process service and complete its implementation.
Sybase WorkSpace tools reduce the complexity of development with a combination of intuitive user interfaces and coding. This also allows you to integrate the work you do with your company's other systems. Many of the mundane development tasks are automated for you.
Sybase WorkSpace provides the tools for you to create robust applications using compensation support, fault handling, real-time business activity monitoring, and clustering.
Service testing tools are provided so that you can verify that the service is producing the desired action. These tools allow you to design tests that can be saved and reused.
Sybase WorkSpace also provides tools for re-use of your work or others' work. When you have created a service, a connection profile, or a deployment profile, for example, you can save the work for reuse or share it with other members of your team. You can even publish your service to a public directory.
Additionally, you can create deployment-independent packaging models that can be reused, which is especially time efficient when using multiple servers.
