Before you can begin using Sybase WorkSpace effectively, you should spend time planning for the resources you will need and how those resources will be used. Before you begin constructing a business process, you must have a thorough understanding of your current business processes and future needs. You must determine how your system will interact with services and business processes to meet your business requirements. You should also consider how you can re-use services and processes that were created for other projects or exposed as Web services. It is helpful to prepare a system configuration diagram that shows the resources types and names of the various services. In most cases, this first step will be done outside of Sybase WorkSpace.
Planning includes the following work:
Understanding your business objectives
Defining the business problem that needs a solution and the requirements for success
Knowing which resources such as transports and databases are available to you
Defining new services and information bound to those services
Understanding all services, application semantics, information sources, and processes in your domain
Defining new processes
Selecting your technology set
Before you start working with Sybase WorkSpace, verify that your preferences are set to meet at least the minimum system requirements as documented in the Installation Requirements section of the Sybase® Workspace Installation Guide.
