Automating a Mobile Agent or Adapter

Agents allow you to schedule, or externally trigger, automatic processing of a mobile application’s content. You can also create agent rules that evaluate a mobile application’s content based on specified criteria. If a mobile application’s content matches the criteria, certain actions take place, such as writing the application’s content to an e-mail message, to a database, or to disk, which is accomplished using an adapter. If the application’s content does not match the criteria, a transaction message is written to a log.

The following workflow guides you through this process.

To automate a mobile agent or adapter

  1. Start Unwired Accelerator.

  2. Connect to Unwired Accelerator.

If the connection is successful, your connection profile expands under Mobile Servers in the Enterprise Explorer and displays the Mobile Automation category.

  3. Connect to Mobile Automation. Right-click Mobile Automation in the Enterprise Explorer and select Connect.

If the connection is successful, the Mobile Automation category expands in the Enterprise Explorer and displays Mobile Adapters, Mobile Agents, and Mobile Agent Servers.

  4. Create an e-mail, file system, or database adapter, using the Create New Adapter dialog. Right-click Mobile Automation in the Enterprise Explorer and select New|Mobile Adapter|Adapter Type, where Adapter Type is the type of adapter you are creating.

  5. Create a mobile agent, using the Create New Mobile Agent dialog. Right-click Mobile Automation in the Enterprise Explorer and select New|Mobile Agent. When you create an agent, you:

  6. Change the state of your mobile agent.

  7. If you have transaction logging configured for Unwired Accelerator, you can view the log file. Right-click your mobile agent in the Enterprise Explorer and select View Transaction Log.
