Install RAP in console mode from the RAP product DVD or download.
Follow these steps for custom and express installations.
Enter the numbers in screen prompts to select options and to navigate to next and previous screens, cancel, or redisplay.

Insert the RAP product DVD into the drive.

Enter the install command for your platform.

When you run the setup command, your current
directory can be any directory that is not on
the DVD.

On the Welcome screen, choose Next.

Choose a location and enter its number.

Press Enter to read license text, then press 2 to accept the license.
If you do not find a license agreement that matches your location,
or if the license agreement is unreadable on your system, choose from all available license agreements on the
Sybase Web site at http://www.sybase.com/softwarelicenses.

Accept the default target directory, /opt/sybase/RAP, or choose another
installation directory.

Select Enable multibyte character support if you want RAP to support languages that use multibyte characters.
Enter 1 to enable, or 2 to disable.
If you do not select this option, the installation continues with single-byte character support. If you plan on using multibyte characters in the future, you may want to install multibyte character support initially. After installation, users cannot switch between multibyte and single-byte data schemas.
Note:
Text that is made up of multibyte characters requires more bytes to store and transmit than text containing only single-byte characters.

Choose Next.

Choose an installation type:
- Express install
- Custom install (default)

Choose the components to install.
Follow installer prompts to select or deselect each feature individually.

Follow the installer instructions to complete the
installation.

Allows complete control over system configuration, ports, IP addresses, tuning parameters, and so on. Recommended for most production installations. |

For systems where default values for ports and tuning parameters are acceptable. Recommended for development and for some production installations. |

Review the installation summary, and choose Next when you are satisfied with your selections.
The installation begins immediately. If you need to cancel, press Ctrl+C.

- Run the installation for each RAPCache server
you want to install. To install multiple servers or
deploy components on different machines, run the install
multiple times.
- Perform post-installation tasks.
