You can verify your network connection by using the Ping command from the Server Object menu.
Verifying a network connection confirms that a server
is receiving requests on the machine name and port number specified.
It does not verify anything about database connections.
Ensure that the database server is running.
Click the server entry in the Server box of the dsedit session window.
Select Ping Server from the Server Object menu. The Ping window appears.
Click the address that you want to ping. Click Ping.
A message box appears, to notify you if the connection is successful or not. A message box for a successful connection states that both Open Connection and Close Connection succeeded.
