Before configuring the product, you should plan your OpenSwitch implementation. Several configurations are possible, depending on whether you use Replication Server, whether the Replication Server is configured for warm-standby, and whether your Adaptive Servers are configured for failover.
Verify that you have the appropriate software installed (other than OpenSwitch) as shown in Table 3-1, before you start OpenSwitch configuration.

See the OpenSwitch Administration Guide and the OpenSwitch Coordination Module Reference Manual for details about possible OpenSwitch configurations.
See the Replication Server documentation for information about using warm-standby. See the Adaptive Server Enterprise documentation for information about high-availability failover.
When you install and configure the secondary companion
OpenSwitch in a mutually-aware implementation, you must use the
same Adaptive Server name that you provided in the primary companion
OpenSwitch server configuration. If you do not do this, OpenSwitch
cannot connect to your Adaptive Servers.
