The next step in setting up a replication environment is to add a database connection for the non-Sybase data server.
To create a database connection
Open the database icon under the non-Sybase data server, and double-click the Add Connection icon.
The Add Connection wizard starts.
From the drop-down list, select the Replication Server that will manage the database connection.
Choose Next to continue.
Enter the System Administrator user ID and password for the Replication Server.
Choose Next to continue.
The next dialog box displays the name of the non-Sybase data server and database.
Choose Next to continue.
Enter the Maintenance User ID and password for the non-Sybase data server.
Choose Next to continue.
Select the connection type, either replicate-only or primary-and-replicate (bidirectional).
If you are creating a connection for a primary-only configuration, select Primary and replicate.
Choose Next to continue.
Modify the database connection parameters.
Non-Sybase database connections require different parameter settings. RSM pre-sets most connections, but you should double-check all required parameters. If the parameters are not set correctly, the connection will not stay in a ready state.
Open the connection Properties dialog box.
Click once on the newly created database connection on the Sybase Central desktop, right-click on the connection icon, and select Properties from the pop-up menu.
On the General tab, verify that the function-string class is set to the non-Sybase function-string class that matches the server type.
On the Advanced tab, verify that the Enabled check box in the Batch Replication group is cleared.
For an Informix data server, set the Command separator drop-down list (on the Advanced tab) to “;”.
Choose OK.
