Chapter 3 Building Information Liquidity Diagrams
Replication Processes (ILM)
A replication process represents a server engine which role is to make a copy of data incoming from a given database into one or several databases or replication processes.
You can use the Replication Wizard from a replication process contextual menu to replicate database objects from a source database to one or more remote databases.
For more information about the Replication Wizard, see the Replicating Objects Using the Replication Wizard section.
A replication process contains the following main items:
- Publications to identify a set of data to replicate and from where it is extracted. Publications contain articles that correspond to the tables of the replicated database and that point to the tables of the source database. Articles contain columns that give details on replicated columns. According to the target you select in the Type list of the replication process, additional options are displayed for these objects within specific tabs or tabs displaying extended attributes.
- Subscriptions to define where the data is replicated by indicating which replicated database subscribes to which publication
- Users to define who is involved in the replication process
- Connection groups to define a logical group for database connections
- Event scripts to define how events on the process are implemented
A replication process belongs to a package and has the following symbol in the diagram:
