Database property sheet Database Connection tab

The Database Connection tab allows you to create a data source to define the connection parameters between the client and the database on the server.

The connection parameters are the following:

Parameter Description
Data source Specifies the connection profile that is used to connect to your database.
Login Name of the user ID with which you log on to the database
Password Password for the connection

For detailed information about creating, configuring, and using connection profiles, see "Connecting to a Database" in the Getting Started with PowerDesigner chapter of the General Features Guide .

Steps To select a data source:

  1. Open a database property sheet and click the Database Connection tab.
  2. Click the Select a Data Source tool to open the Select a Data Source dialog box:
  3. Select one of the following radio buttons, depending on your chosen method for connecting to your data source:



    You can use the tools to the right of the data source field to browse to a new connection profile file or directory, and the Modify and Configure buttons to modify or configure your data source connection.
  4. Click OK.

You can also define a data source by right-clicking a database symbol in the diagram and select the Connect command.
