Chapter 4 Building an Analysis Business Process Model
You can export and import data using the Tools menu.
Business data are conceptual pieces of information that can be specified with more details in a Conceptual Data Model (CDM), a Physical Data Model (PDM) or in the class diagram of an Object Oriented Model (OOM).
Exporting business data from the current business process model gives you a basis for identifying data items, entities, tables or classes in conception or implementation phases.
When you export data, you create objects in the CDM, the PDM or the OOM from the exported data. Exported data are automatically linked to the created objects in the BPM.
Data items, entities, tables or classes can also be imported as data to create or enrich a reference database that you will use to identify information exchanged between processes.
When you import data, you create data in the current BPM from objects selected in a CDM, a PDM, or an OOM. Imported data are automatically linked to the selected objects in the source model.
The preserved link between the data and the object in the associated model allows you to navigate from an object to another using the Definition box in the data property sheet or the Dependencies tab in the property sheet of objects in associated models. The Dependencies tab of an entity, a table or a class for example displays the associated data and allows you to position the object in a more business context.
When the business data is modified, the impact analysis feature shows you affected objects. For more information see the "Impact Analysis" chapter in the General Features Guide .
