Chapter 2 Installing PowerDesigner

Installing client machines

You can now setup the client machines. The client install modifies the registry of the client machine in order to be able to reference the files located on the server, but is does not copy any file on the client machine.

You can select any of the four types of PowerDesigner licenses during client install.

No space required

No space is required on the client machine for client install since PowerDesigner files are referenced on the network server.

Steps To install a client machine:

  1. In the Windows Explorer, connect to the network server drive and double-click the Setup.exe file.

    The welcome page is displayed.
  2. Click Next.

    The license selection page appears.
  3. Select a license type and click Next.

For more information, see the "Installing a Trial Version of PowerDesigner", the "Installing a Standalone - Local License of PowerDesigner", and the "Installing a Standalone - Served or a Floating - Served License of PowerDesigner" sections.
  4. Define installation parameters in the different pages of the setup program.
  5. Click Finish.

Depending on your working environment, Setup may ask you to reboot your machine.

    Note   Readme.html
The Readme.html file contains important release information. You can open it using a text editor from the /PowerDesigner directory by default.
