Chapter 13 Impact analysis

Understanding impact propagation

An impact textual field is displayed by default beside each object in the dependency tree.

This field is called an event, it is used to designate the modifications that will be performed on this object. You can modify the default event on an object, for more information see the"Customizing events" section.

Each event is propagated using propagation rules and provokes other events, this is called impact propagation. A propagation rule is the way a change on an initial object is automatically propagated to other objects. You can customize propagation rules from the Propagation Rules Definition dialog box.

For more information on the Propagation Rules Definition dialog box, see the "Using the Propagation Rules Definition dialog box" section.
