Chapter 5 Managing Repository Documents

Defining advanced search parameters

You can define advanced search criteria to fine tune the object location parameters defined in the Name & Location page.

The Advanced page displays a list of properties corresponding to the object type selected in the Name & Location page. For example, if you select user in a PDM, the list displays Name, Code, Creation Date, Modification Date, Stereotype, and Generate propertie. You can select the check box in the U column to enable the property as a search criterion.

The list of properties never shows the following types of properties:

Also, if the Include Shortcut check box is selected in the Name & Location page, specific attributes do not appear. For example, the stereotype and Generate properties do not appear in the list of user properties.

If you want to filter the search criteria, you can define an expression. The expression syntax uses wildcards as defined in the Defining object type and name parameters.

Steps To define advanced search parameters:

  1. Select Repository→Find Objects.

    or

Right-click a node in the repository browser and select Find Objects.

The Find Objects dialog box opens to the Name & Location page.
  2. Select a location, a model name and version, and an object type in the corresponding dropdown list box.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.

    The Advanced page appears.
  4. Define a property expression and select the check box corresponding to this property.
