Connecting to an ODBC data source

By connecting to a data source, you can send direct requests to a DBMS.

Steps To connect to an ODBC data source:

  1. Select Database→Connect to display the data source connection dialog box.
  2. Select the Machine data source radio button.

    Select a data source from the dropdown listbox.

    or

    Select the File data source radio button.

    Browse to the directory containing the .DSN file.

    Select the .DSN file.
  3. Type your user ID and password.
  4. Click Connect and, if prompted by your data source, type additional connection parameters.

Note   Connection time
You stay connected until you disconnect or terminate the shell session.
