Chapter 7 Linking and Synchronizing Models in PowerDesigner
When you perform changes on the target object, whatever the status of the target object model (open or closed), the shortcut owns information from the target object and can fully display them.
However, shortcut synchronization can happen at different times depending on the referencing model status:
When the referencing model is open Shortcut synchronization occurs instantly.
When the referencing model is closed Shortcut synchronization occurs when you will open the referencing model.
In any case, both referencing and target models must be open in the workspace of the same machine for the changes of the target object to be propagated to the shortcut.
