Connecting to a Database

Connect to a database directly from the Database Explorer view in the Database Development or Service Development perspectives.

To connect to a database:

  1. Open the Database Explorer view.

    The Select Perspective dialog appears.

  2. Select Database Explorer and click OK.

    The Database Explorer perspective appears.

    • The left pane contains the Database Explorer view.

    • The right pane contains three panels: Object Layout, Object Details, and Results.

      Note

If focus is on the WorkSpace Navigator when you change to the Database Explorer perspective, the WorkSpace Navigator is displayed over the left pane view. To remove, click the Fast View shortcut bar.

  3. Double-click a database connection profile in the list to display the available databases.

    Note

To add a connection profile, right-click an installed database interface and select New Connection Profile from the context menu. See Connection Profiles for more information.

  4. Connect to a database. Right-click the connection profile and select Connect from the context menu.

For an ASE connection profile, this action connects you to the master database.

    Note

To set that database as the active database, right-click the databases under that profile and Set as active database.
