You can add and modify service variables in either the Variables section of the service editor or theVariables Panel view.
Variables section
The Variables section of a service editor displays the variables associated with the resource selected in the editor. You can add and modify variables in the section. This section is not available if you open the Variables Panel view, but because both contain the same information, you only need one or the other open. Because the Variables section is part of the service editor, if you maximize the service editor, the Variables section is available.
Variables Panel view
The Variables Panel view displays the variables associated with the resources selected in the service editor. You can add and modify variables in this view. When you open this view, the Variables section of the service editor closes. Using the Variables Panel view gives you more space in the editor for the editor canvas and helps you better use perspective space. However, if you maximize the service editor, this view is not displayed. To make changes in the service involving variables, close the Variables Panel view before you maximize the editor. The Variables section then opens in the editor and is available with the maximized editor.
