Each resource has properties. To modify the properties of a resource, work in either the Properties view, the Properties section of a service editor, or the Properties Panel view. Another method of viewing properties is to right-click a resource in the WorkSpace Navigator and select Properties from the context menu to open the Properties dialog box. You can view properties and make limited changes in this dialog box.
Properties view
The Properties view displays the basic properties of a selected resource, which includes these properties:
Derived
Editable
Last modified
Linked
Location
Name
Path
Size
If the resource can be edited, which is indicated by a true value in the Value column, you can make changes in this view, for example, you can change the name.
Properties section of a service editor
The Properties section of a service editor displays the properties of the resource selected in the editor. You can add and modify properties in the section. This section is not available if you open the Properties Panel view, but because both contain the same information, open one or the other. Because the Properties section is part of the service editor, if you maximize the service editor, the Properties section is available.
Properties Panel view
The Properties Panel view displays the properties of the service resources selected in the service editor. You can add and modify properties in this view. When you open this view, the Properties section of the service editor closes. Using the Properties Panel view provides more space in the editor for the editor canvas and helps better use perspective space. However, if you maximize the service editor, this view is not displayed. To make changes in the service involving properties, close the Properties Panel view before you maximize the editor. The Properties section then opens in the editor and is available with the maximized editor.
Properties dialog box
The Properties dialog box usually displays the same properties as the Properties view. The kinds of properties displayed depend on the selected resource. In this dialog box, you can change certain properties and reset properties to their default.
Web Application Development Properties view
The Properties view of the Web Application Development perspective displays the properties of a resource selected in the Web Page, JSF Application Configuration, web.xml, or Resource Bundle editor. The Web Application Development Properties view is similar to the default Properties view, but, when certain controls are selected, it contains two tabs: Quick Edit and Attributes.
