Creating a Fault Handler

A fault handler catches faults thrown by a service.

To create a fault handler:

  1. See Creating a Business Process Service to create a business process.

  2. In your business process, select the Business Process tab.

  3. Click on the Business Process canvas to activate the Tool Palette.

    Note

If the Tool Palette does not appear either on the Fast View shortcut bar or as an open view in the perspective, open the Tool Palette.

  4. From the Service Explorer, select the service that throws a fault and drag and drop it onto the canvas.

  5. From the Exception Processing tool palette, select the Fault Handler activity and drag and drop it onto the canvas.

The default fault handler catches all exceptions thrown.

  6. To change the Fault Handler to catch a specific throw exception, either in Properties in the Business Process Logic Page or the Properties Panel view, select ellipse button in the Fault field.

    The Fault Selection dialog appears.

  7. Select This handler handles a specific fault.

  8. Select the fault.

  9. Click OK.
