Creating a Sybase Project

Create a Sybase project using the New Project wizard. The wizard displays help that assists you in the decisions and selections that you need to make when you are creating your project.

You can create an empty project, use a project template, or create a Message Designer Project.

Note

To create a Java project, see Creating a New Java Project in the Java Development User Guide, which is on the online bookshelf.

To create a Sybase project:

  1. From the main menu bar, select File|New|Project:

    Note

For alternate ways to access the New Project wizard, see Methods of Accessing New Wizards.

  2. When the New Project wizard opens, click to expand Sybase and select one of the following:

    • Message Designer Project

A Message Designer Project contains folders that help you organize resources when you develop message definitions for custom wire formats.

    • New Project From Template

You can select a template to model your project.

      Note

When you create a project from a template and rename from the default template name to the name you want to use, the Project Preview screen of the wizard displays the default name instead of the new name. However, the project is created using the correct name.

    • Sybase WorkSpace Project

The Sybase Workspace Project contains folders that help you organize resources when you build your project, such as Deployment, Packages, Schemas, and Services folders.

  3. Follow the wizard instructions.

The wizard displays help that assists you in the decisions that you need to make.

    Note

    Project names cannot contain spaces.
