Assigning Templates to Mobile Applications

When you view a mobile application in the Definition section of the mobile application editor, a list of supported mobile Device Types and their assigned Templates also displays. A default template is automatically assigned for each device type. You can assign a different template to a device type for that mobile application. For example, you may want to change the template assigned to the PDA from PDA Basic to PDA Advanced. To do this, you could:

  1. Generate a new PDA template that meets your criteria.

See Generate a Mobile Template for more information.

  2. Save it to a new template named PDA Advanced.

  3. Assign PDA Advanced to your mobile application. When the mobile application is deployed to a PDA device, PDA Advanced is the template the device uses.

Assigning a template to a device type:

  1. Double-click a mobile application. The mobile application displays in the mobile application editor.

  2. Click the Definition section of the editor.

  3. In the Templates section, highlight the Device Type for which you are assigning a different template.

  4. Click Search. The Select Template wizard displays. (You can also drag the template from the Sybase WorkSpace Navigator into the template list and drop to assign to the new template instead of using Search).

  5. Enter the name of the template you are assigning to the device type, or click Search to display a list of approved templates. Select a template from the list and click OK. The template is now assigned to the device type for this mobile application.

    Note

You must select a template appropriate for the device type. If not, an error displays and the template assignment is not changed.
