Use the Create Database wizard to create a new Sybase IQ database. You can use this database to develop applications in Sybase WorkSpace.
To create a development-level Sybase IQ database based on your Create Database preference settings, follow this procedure.
To create a production database using options other than the ones described here and in the Create Database preferences page, see your Sybase IQ documentation.
To create a Sybase IQ database:
In the Database Development perspective, open Enterprise Explorer and right-click a Sybase ASIQ connection profile to connect to the database.
The user name in the connection profile must have DBA authority.
Do one of the following to open the Create Database wizard:
Open the Enterprise Explorer view, right-click a Sybase ASIQ connection profile, and select Create Database from the context menu.
Select File|New|Create Database from the menu bar.
For more ways to access the Create Database wizard, see Wizards.
Use the following information to complete the Create Database page.
Create Database page
Field | Description |
---|---|
Database Name | Enter a name for the database file. The same name is used for the Sybase IQ log file. |
Database connection profile type | Choose Sybase ASIQ. |
Database connection profile name | Select an existing profile from the drop-down list, or click Create to create a new one. |
Click Finish to create the database.
Review the create database operation and status in SQL Results.
If the operation succeeded, a new Sybase ASIQ connection profile is created automatically with the same name as the new database name. The new database starts automatically, and:
The new connection profile is connected automatically if Auto-connect is selected in the connection profile for the original (parent) database.
You must connect to the new database manually using the new connection profile in Database Explorer or Enterprise Explorer, if Auto-connect is not selected in the connection profile for the original (parent) database.
