RAPCache Database Optimization

To achieve optimal performance, modify the configuration of the RAPCache database.

The RAPCache database has connections with most of the activities that occur in a RAP production environment (for example, message flow), and services a large number of requests from these connections. Therefore, it is critical to tune the RAPCache database to achieve optimal system performance.

• Using an In-Memory or Relaxed-Durability RAPCache Database
  Using an in-memory database or a relaxed-durability database can significantly improve overall system performance.
• CPU and Engine Basics
  In a multi-CPU system, you can enhance the performance of the RAPCache database by configuring it to run with multiple engines.
• Execution Classes Within the RAPCache Database
  The RAPCache database contains predefined and user-defined execution classes that can be used to improve the performance of activities that communicate with the RAPCache.
• Resource Allocation
  In a typical production environment, the CPUs on the machine are used simultaneously by the RAPCache database, RAPCache subscriber, and the operating system.
• Time Slice and CPU Grace Time Parameters
  The time slice configuration parameter prevents tasks that execute on the RAPCache database from monopolizing engines.
• Logging for DML Commands
  Because logging database activities is expensive and can negatively impact the RAPCache database's performance, the database can perform minimal to no logging as it executes some data manipulation language (DML) commands on low-durability databases.
