Data Model

RAP includes a logical data model for messages and two similar physical data models: one for the RAPStore database and another for the RAPCache database.

RAP uses a data model that supports institutional trading and prime brokerage business processes. The data model includes Market Data and Instrument diagrams.

The indexes for both physical models are database-specific and must be defined individually. Together, both models are sometimes referred to as the RAP data model. You can open, view, modify, and extend the data models using PowerDesigner, which is provided with RAP.

• RAP Messages Logical Model
  The RAP Messages model represents market data in a logical data model (LDM) independent of any data store.
• RAPCache and RAPStore Physical Models
  The physical models contain all tables and columns needed for the message templates and sample queries provided with RAP. Each table is used in at least one diagram. All tables and columns have detailed descriptions.
• Finding an Object in a Diagram
  Locate any object with a symbol in a diagram or among several diagrams. Objects without graphical symbols, such as domains, are not shown in the diagram.
• Data Model Tables
  A list of all data model tables with their code names, descriptions, and diagrams they are in.
• Extensions
  Extensions (.xem files) provide means for customizing and extending PowerDesigner metaclasses, parameters, and generation. Extended models can be used to store additional information, or to change model behavior.
