The Sybase ETL Server provides the GRID engine service, which, by default, processes desktop requests locally. The GRID engine is designed for massively parallel transformation processing across operating system boundaries and machines. To make GRID engines available for parallel execution, you must register them in Engine Manager (see “Using multiple engines to reduce job execution time” for more information). The GRID engine leverages JavaScript to extend the transformation framework across multiple operating systems.
For more information about Sybase ETL Server and GRID engines, see Chapter 8, “Sybase ETL Server.”
