Reverse Engineering for MobiLink

You can reverse engineer an existing MobiLink synchronization definition into an ILM using a live connection for both the remote and the consolidated databases. The process of reverse engineering MobiLink synchronization definitions equals to retrieving MobiLink objects from the embedded Replication Server System Database (RDSS) via a live connection to create or update the corresponding ILM objects.

Right-click a replication process symbol, and select Reverse Engineering to reverse the MobiLink synchronization definition, or alternately select Tools > Reverse Engineering Replication Server, select the replication processes to reverse engineer if you want to reverse multiple MobiLink synchronization definitions, and click OK.

During the process, each time a database connection is needed by the replication process, the Select a Data Source dialog opens to let you specify a data source, your login and password.

Once the reverse engineering is performed, PowerDesigner displays the Merge Models window to show the differences between the reverse engineered model and the current model. You can decide whether you want to accept or not the created or modified objects.

For more information about comparing and merging models, see the Comparing and Merging Models chapter in the Core Features Guide.

The objects are added to your model, and are displayed in the diagram and in the Browser. They are also listed in the Reverse tab of the Output window, located in the lower part of the main window.
