Creating a Basic MobiLink Environment with the Replication Wizard

The Replication Wizard provides a quick way to configure a MobiLink server for synchronizing data between remote and consolidated databases. You can synchronize the entire database or choose specific tables to synchronize. You can run the wizard as many times as necessary to create additional synchronizations on a MobiLink server.

Prerequisites

Although you can launch the Replication wizard without already having modeled your databases in PDMs, we recommend that you as a minimum create a PDM to represent the structure of your consolidated database. You can reverse-engineer an existing database by selecting File > Reverse Engineer > Database.

Task
  1. Select File > New Model to open the New Model window and select Information Liquidity Model in the Model Type list and Information Liquidity Diagram in the Diagram pane.
  2. Click the Select Extensions button to open the Select Extensions dialog, click the General Purpose sub-tab, select the appropriate version of MobiLink, and then click OK.
  3. Click OK to create the ILM, which opens with an empty diagram.
  4. Select Tools Replication Wizard to open a wizard that guides you through configuring MobiLink for synchronizing data between your consolidated and remote databases.
    Note:

For detailed information about using the Replication Wizard, see Replicating Objects with the Replication Wizard.

When you click OK to close the wizard, PowerDesigner will create source and remote database objects in your ILM, as well as all the necessary articles, publications, and subscriptions that the MobiLink server requires to manage the synchronization of data between them.
