The e-ADK has two components: the Adapter Shell and an adapter plug-in. The Adapter Shell provided by the e-ADK dynamically loads and makes calls to an adapter plug-in. The adapter plug-in, which interacts with a target and an application or data source, is built by the developer using the APIs provided with the e-ADK. Detailed API infomraiton is available in the e-ADK Programmer’s Reference. The plug-in contains the adapter library. The following graphic shows high-level interaction between the Adapter Shell and the adapter plug-in:
