Inserting a data merge

A data merge combines two or more identical input flows into a single output flow. To combine different input flows, see Inserting a data join.

To insert a data merge:

Select the Data Merge tool in the palette, and create the action in the diagram.

Select the Data Flow tool, and draw a flow from the preceding step (a data input or action) to the data merge to initialize it with the incoming data structure columns.

Click OK to save your changes and return to the diagram.

Automatically inserting/removing a merge
When a data output or an action has more than two input flows, you can right-click the data output or action and select Insert Merge. It automatically creates a data merge before the data output or action. Conversely, you can select Remove Merge to display each input flow instead of the data merge.
