Importing and Exporting Model Graphics

A model can incorporate external graphic files in one of several formats. The imported images are stored in the model when it is saved, and are present the next time you open the model.

Steps To import an image into the model:

  1. Select Edit→Import Image to open the Select Image window (see Managing image collections).
  2. Select an image and click OK to display it in the diagram.

You can also export model graphics.

Steps To export model graphics:

  1. Select one or more symbols to export.
  2. [optional] Select Edit→Export in Color in order to retain color when exporting.
  3. Select Edit→Export Image to open a Windows Save As dialog box.
  4. Select a format in the Save As Type list, enter the filename and click OK.

You can export symbols in any of the following file type formats:

File type Extension
Enhanced Metafile EMF
Bitmap BMP, DIB, RLE
JPEG Compliant JPG, JPEG
Portable Network Graphic PNG
Graphics Interchanged Format GIF
Tagged Image File Format TIF, TIFF
Scalable Vector Graphics SVG

Note   Copying to the Clipboard in color
If you cut or copy selected symbols to the Clipboard, you must select Edit→Export in Color to copy the symbols in color.
