Chapter 13 Working with MobiLink
Synchronizing data with MobiLink
Here is the proper sequence to follow in order to replicate data with MobiLink:
- Prepare one or several Physical Data Models (PDM) corresponding to the consolidated databases of your system. You can also reverse engineer existing databases to create PDMs using the File→Reverse Engineer→Database command from the menu bar
- Create an Information Liquidity Model (ILM) using the MobiLink 9.0 and MobiLink 10.0 extended model definition (XEM)
- Create a MobiLink replication process in the diagram using the MobiLink tool in the tool palette
- Define the consolidated database, the tables you want to synchronize and the remote database using the Replication Wizard command from the MobiLink replication process contextual menu
- Define MobiLink options using the MobiLink Options tab in the property sheet of the MobiLink replication process
- Define connection scripts using the Connection Scripts tab in the property sheet of the MobiLink replication process
- Define download and upload options and table scripts for each article within a publication using the corresponding tabs in the property sheet of the article
- Update the consolidated database PDM to add necessary columns, shadow tables, triggers and stored procedures using the Update Consolidated Database PDM command from its contextual menu
- Generate or modify the consolidated database
- Update the remote database PDM to add or modify tables based on the definition of articles
- Generate or modify the remote database
- Generate synchronization scripts
- Register MobiLink synchronization users
