Introduction

When to work with Replication Server?

You define an ILM with Replication Server Extended Model Definitions (XEMs) when Replication Server is one of the components of your overall data replication process, usually because you need to perform near-real-time replications between a relatively small number of databases.

PowerDesigner is delivered with support for Sybase Replication Server version 12.5, 12.6 and 15.0 that allows the display of additional or modified tabs in some of the property sheet of the ILM objects.

Understand the global process

The primary database is the source of the data that the replication process can replicate in:

You define replications within the replication process property sheet to designate the location of the primary data. The replication process property sheet gathers articles into publications, for easier management. Articles correspond to the tables to replicate. You can also create subscriptions within the replication process property sheet to link the replication process to replication processes at other sites or to remote databases.
