Linking a classifier to a state

When a statechart diagram is associated with a default classifier, the different states of the statechart diagram represent different situations during the life of this classifier. This classifier could be a class, a use case or a component that you can link to a state from the state property sheet.

Steps To link a classifier to a state:

  1. Select a classifier from the Classifier list in the state property sheet.

    The classifier name is displayed in the Classifier list.
  2. Click OK.

    The classifier is conceptually associated with the state.

    You can similarly view the state name in the use case, class or component property sheet: click the Dependencies tab and select the States sub-tab. The state name is automatically added in this sub-tab.

You can drag a use case, class or component from the Browser and drop it into the statechart diagram. You can also copy it and paste it, or paste it as shortcut, into the statechart diagram.
