Installing the Adaptive Server Anywhere Authenticated Server

The PowerDesigner repository is delivered with an authenticated version of Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere. You can only use this version to store your PowerDesigner repository. You are not licensed to use it to build databases for other applications.

The Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere authenticated server runs in:

You install only one server; all users will connect to this server using the Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere client.

Steps To install the Adaptive Server Anywhere authenticated server:

  1. Insert the software CD-ROM in the drive.
  2. Click the Install Adaptive Server Anywhere button.

    The Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere installation program opens to the Choose Location page.
  3. Select a destination folder using the Browse button and click Next.

    The Choose Shared Components Location page is displayed.
  4. Select a destination folder for the shared components using the Browse button and click Next.

    The Select Components page is displayed.
  5. Expand the Adaptive Server Anywhere node and select Network Database Server. By default, the Personal Database Server check box is also selected. You can also select Database Tools, Interactive SQL, together with the tools in the Tools node.
  6. Click Next.

    The Server License page is displayed.
  7. Type the total number of licenses in the Licensed Seats and make sure the Networked Seat (per-seat) model radio button.
  8. Click Next.

    The Select Program Folder page is displayed.
  9. Accept the proposed folder or type a new folder name in the Program Folders box.
  10. Click Next.

    The Start Copying Files page is displayed with a summary of all the installation options you have selected.
  11. Click Next to start the installation of the Adaptive Server Anywhere Server.

    The Select Components dialog box is displayed to let you install the HTML documentation.
  12. Select or clear the English Online Documentation (HTML) component check box and click Next.

    The Setup Complete page is displayed.
  13. Click Finish.

    The ReadMe file is displayed in a text editor.
  14. Read the ReadMe file then close the text editor.

    Another InstallShield Wizard Complete page is displayed asking you to restart your computer.
  15. Select the Yes radio button and click Finish to restart your computer.
