Creating a repository definition

Once you have created the data source you can create a repository definition in PowerDesigner. A repository definition is a set of parameters defined on the PowerDesigner client. It contains two groups, one for repository connection parameters, and the other one for database connection parameters:

Steps To create a repository definition:

  1. Select Repository→Repository Definitions.

The List of Repository Definitions dialog box is displayed.
  2. Click the Add a Row tool.

An arrow is displayed at the beginning of a blank line.
  3. Type a name in the Repository Name column.
  4. Type a user name in the Repository User column.
  5. Click the Ellipsis button in the Data Source Name column to select a machine data source or a file data source in the Select an ODBC Data Source dialog box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Type the database user name in the Database User column.
  8. Click Apply in the List of Repository Definitions.
  9. Double-click the arrow at the beginning of the line of the new repository definition to type the user password in the Define Repository dialog box.
