Creating a generation link

You can create a generation link in any of the following ways:

• Use the Generation Link tool in the diagram Palette.
• Select Model→Generation Links to access the List of Generation Links, and click the Add a Row tool.
• Right-click the model or package in the Browser, and select New→Generation Link.

When you create a generation link from the Browser or from the List of Generation Links, you must have previously defined source and destination models for the Generation link.

To create a generation link from a diagram:

1. Click the Generation Link tool.
2. Click inside a source data store and while continuing to hold down the mouse button, drag the cursor to the target data store. Release the mouse button inside the target data store.
   
   The generation link is displayed between the source and the target data store:

   You change the object at either end of a generation link by clicking the generation link to select it, and dragging one of the attach points to a different data store.
