Chapter 11 Working with MobiLink
Reverse engineering a single MobiLink replication process
You reverse engineer a single MobiLink replication process using the Reverse Engineering by ODBC command from its contextual menu. It allows you to reverse engineer all its related objects.
To reverse engineer a single MobiLink replication process:
- Open a MobiLink replication process property sheet to define the ODBC data source, user name and password of the consolidated database in the ODBC tab.
(If you do not define the ODBC data source, the Select an ODBC Data Source dialog box opens during the reverse engineering process).
- If you have already defined the consolidated database and remote database, you can create a data connection from the consolidated database to the MobiLink process and another data connection from the MobiLink process to the remote database.
If you have not defined the consolidated database or remote database, PowerDesigner creates a default one for you during the reverse engineering process.
- Right-click the MobiLink replication process symbol and select Reverse Engineering by ODBC from the contextual menu.
If you have not defined the ODBC data source for the remote database in the ODBC tab of the remote database property sheet, PowerDesigner asks you to select the ODBC data source of the remote database.
Once the reverse engineering is performed, PowerDesigner displays the Merge Models window to show you the differences between the reverse engineered model and the current model. You can decide whether you want to accept or not the created or modified objects.
For more information on merging models, see section Merging Models, in chapter Comparing and Merging Models in the General Features Guide.
The objects are added to your model. They are visible in the diagram and in the Browser. They are also listed in the Reverse tab of the Output window, located in the lower part of the main window.
