Chapter 3 Using the PowerDesigner Interface
You can define the following general options:
General option for | Description | Action |
---|---|---|
Deletion | PowerDesigner displays a confirmation dialog box when you delete an object. If you delete an object you can always cancel the deletion using the Undo feature |
Clear the Confirm Object Deletion check box if you do not want to have this confirmation dialog box. |
Model Explorer | You can choose to open the last workspace displayed or a new workspace when you start PowerDesigner | Select the Auto-reload last workspace check box to open the last workspace |
Model Explorer drag and drop | By default you can move an object in the Model Explorer by drag and drop. However, if you drag an object symbol from one diagram to another the object remains in the source diagram and you create a shortcut in the target diagram. You can change this behavior temporarily by pressing one or more of the keys which name are mentionned in the Model Explorer drag and drop groupbox or you can also change the default behavior |
Select a default action radio button if you want the default drag and drop to create shortcuts, replicas or copy objects |
Output pane log path | PowerDesigner creates a log file for the contents of each tab of the Output pane. This log file is saved in the Windows temporary folder | You can define another location in the Log path box |
Graphical tool behavior | PowerDesigner allows you to directly modify the name of an object from the object symbol in the diagram without opening its property sheet whenever you create an object with the diagram toolbar | Select the Edit in Place after Creation check box in the Graphical Tool Behavior groupbox |
Sort | The Natural Sort option allows you to sort items in their natural order, that is to say the exact numeric order. For example, a naturally sorted list of objects displays the following order: Table_1, Table_3, Table_12, Table_20. When you modify the sort option, the Model Explorer is not automatically updated. You must collapse and expand folders to display items in the desired order |
Clear the Natural Sort option if you want the following order Table_1, Table_12, Table_20, Table_3. |
