Snap to Grid

You can align objects in your model using the Snap to Grid function. When you use Snap to Grid, all new objects that you create, and all objects that you move within a diagram, are automatically aligned to the points on the grid. This improves the visual appeal of your models.

You can rearrange selected objects or all objects in the model. You can choose to visualize the grid in a diagram, or keep it hidden from view.

To activate Snap to Grid:

1. Select Tools→Display Preferences to display the Display Preferences dialog box.
2. Select the Snap to grid check box.
   
   When you create new objects or move existing objects within the diagram, they will be automatically positioned on the grid.
3. Select the size of grid in the Size box.
   
   The greater the value you enter in the Size box, the larger the space will be between points on the grid.
4. Select the Display check box if you want to visualize the grid in the diagram.
5. Click OK.
