Chapter 11 Migrating from previous versions

Overview

You can migrate dictionaries created with previous versions of PowerDesigner into the repository.

To perform migration you have to follow the steps below:

Extract each model you want to migrate to your local machine
Consolidate the models in the PowerDesigner repository. Before consolidating these models, PowerDesigner will first convert their files into version 7 files

WARNING!

Caution
Models converted to version 7 can no longer be used in PowerDesigner previous versions.

In PowerDesigner version 6.1.5, the Extract Multi-Model feature has been added to help users migrate their dictionaries to the repository.
