Chapter 6 Extracting documents

Merging an extracted model

You can extract a model version from the repository in order to update a local model. Merging two models is possible only if the extracted model already exists on your local machine. When you select Merge Document, the extracted model is in the left pane of the Merge dialog box, and the local model is the model in which changes will be applied in the right pane of the Merge dialog box.

You can set a default general option if you want to always merge the extracted model with the local model.

For more information about the merge general option, see section Defining repository general options in chapter Managing Repository Documents.

For more information about the merge feature, see section Merging models in the General Features Guide.

When you select the Merge Document feature and depending on the state of the Open Document check box, PowerDesigner performs the following actions:

Local model Open Document check box

Save local model
Opened Deselected Merge models

Save local model
