Chapter 4 Building Multidimensional Diagrams
You can double-click any dimension symbol in a diagram to display its properties:
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The name of the item which should be clear and meaningful, and should convey the item's purpose to non-technical users |
| Code | The technical name of the item used for generating code or scripts, which may be abbreviated, and should not generally include spaces |
| Comment | Descriptive label for the dimension |
| Stereotype | Sub-classification used to extend the semantics of an object without changing its structure; it can be predefined or user-defined |
| Default Hierarchy | Dimension hierarchy used by default for a cube to perform its consolidation calculations. The hierarchy used by the cube is defined on the cube dimension association |
A dimension definition also includes the following properties:
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Attributes | List of attributes that qualify the dimension |
| Hierarchies | List of hierarchies used to organize the dimension attributes |
| Mapping | Defines the mapping between the current dimension and a table or a view in a data source |
| Notes | Description associated with the dimension |
| Rules | Business rules associated with the dimension |
| Extended Dependencies | User defined semantic dependencies between objects in the model |
| Dependencies | Relationship between two modeling elements, in which a change to the influent element will affect the dependent element |
| Version Info | Dimension owner, version number, modification and creation details |
