Chapter 8 Managing Objects

Finding object in the diagram or in the Model Explorer from the Modeling Result List

You can use the Modeling Result List to find the symbol of an object in the diagram or the name of an object in the Model Explorer from the Find tab or the Check Model tab.

You can use the Find in Diagram command only with objects that have associated symbols, objects without symbols such as business rules cannot be found in the diagram.

The find in diagram feature can be very useful if you are looking for the shortcut symbols of a target object for example or for the graphical synonyms of an object.

Steps To find object symbol in the diagram from the Modeling Result List:

  1. Right-click the object in the Find tab or in the Check Model tab and select Find In Diagram from the object contextual menu.

The Diagram window is displayed with the object symbol selected in its center.

When an object has several symbols within a model, a symbol selection dialog box is displayed that lets you select an object symbol among all instances of the object within the model diagrams. When you click OK the symbol is selected and centered in the current diagram window.

    Note   Object without symbols
If you select an object that does not have an associated symbol in the diagram, a warning message is displayed.

    Note   Objects identification
The Location column also allows you to know where objects have been defined.
