Chapter 5 Building a Process Hierarchy Diagram

Defining a Process Hierarchy Diagram

The process hierarchy diagram is one of the diagrams of the Business Area Analysis (BAA). The BAA is an Information Engineering methodology that allows the definition of requirements by identifying high-level business functions and information needs.

The process hierarchy diagram is part of a Business Process Model. It is one of the available diagrams in a BPM. It shows the symbols of the objects defined in the decomposition of top-level business functions. The objects are the processes, sub-processes, and their decomposition (branches).

The process hierarchy diagram can be created in a model, a package, but not within a composite process.

For more information on diagrams of the BPM, see section What is a BPM, in chapter Business Process Model Basics.

For more information on composite processes, see section Defining composite processes, in chapter Building an Analysis Business process model.
