Chapter 4 Managing Profiles

Attaching an icon to a stereotype

You can attach an icon to the stereotype you have defined in order to identify stereotyped instances of the metaclass. When you assign the stereotype to a metaclass instance, it displays the corresponding icon in PowerDesigner interface instead of the usual metaclass icon.

By default, no icon is selected, you can use the browse tool to select a file with the .cur or .ico extension. You can create your own icons or cursors using 3rd party editors or you can purchase them from graphic designers.

If you select the Palette Custom Tool check box, the icon is automatically initialized with the default system icon, this does not prevent you from changing it using the browse tool.

When you select a new icon, this icon is copied and saved within the resource file. It is displayed in the list of icons available for the Custom Graphic Tools category in the Customize Toolbars dialog box:

Steps To attach an icon to a stereotype:

  1. In the Stereotype property page, click the Browse for Icon and Tool Cursor File tool to display a standard Open dialog box in which you can select a file with the .cur or .ico extension.
  2. Click Apply.
